Niki Wozniak

SXM Project Volunteer

Niki is a local volunteer for SXM Project. She is a “boots on the ground” worker who has assisted in cleaning up debris from Irma and provides ad hoc assistance which includes providing photographs, interviews, and press releases.

A seasoned choreographer and Artistic Director of Desiraeda Dance Theatre (founded in Toronto 2007), her choreographic style is notable for its theatrical and almost cinematic approach to exploring the human condition. Her creations are motivated by a passion for music and psychology, a curiosity of people, and a vibrant, imaginative vision.

An award-winning dancer, Niki appears in her works and has had the honor of performing in the works of many renowned choreographers and companies, including Robert Desrosiers, Peggy Baker, and the Canadian Opera Company.

Niki is also a highly regarded adjudicator, and teacher of dance and Pilates, working across Canada, the USA, the Caribbean, and at the prestigious Shanghai Dance School in China. She was on the faculty at Centennial College Dance Performance program and Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts college program.

At her new home in Sint Maarten, Niki is also an instructor of Dance and Pilates at the National Institute of Art (NIA) in Philipsburg, and Joga in Cole Bay.

Niki has a passion for people and animals and is grateful for the opportunity to give back by volunteering with SXM Project.
